Sport and Health

Our Health, P.E and Sport programs are comprehensive.

An excellent foundation is established in our Fundamental Motor Skills programs which are taught across all grades from P -6 by both classroom teachers as well as our specialist P.E .teacher.

A comprehensive series of sports clinics are provided throughout the year with expert coaching in AFL, basketball, soccer, cricket, hockey, rugby, baseball and tennis being provided by accredited coaches from district and National sporting teams.

We currently have 7 qualified coaches on our staff.

In 2010 we initiated an interschool sports program which provides students from Weetangera and surrounding schools to participate in regular “friendly “competitions in a number of targeted team sports. This program is aimed at students in years 3-6.

Our representation at P.S.S.A, district, zone, A.C.T and National level competitions is celebrated at our whole school assemblies and is referenced in our newsletters and sports awards.

Weetangera is possibly the first A.C.T primary school to establish a Sports Mentoring Program. This program supports our elite sports students in both their academic and sporting pursuits by providing tutoring and regular individual counsel.

An early morning running club operates on Monday and Fridays at 8.30am for students from years 3-6.

Weetangera is proud of the consistent and comprehensive approach it has to its Health, P.E and Sport Programs.
